Dropping Like Flies

I am going to keep this short. People are leaving. Teaching in the UAE is not for everyone and it is not easy, my school is tough but I have goals (finacial and personal) that will keep me here no matter what until I meet them. The situation in Canada is not the greatest for teachers.  I am even toying with the idea of extending my two year contract for an extra year or two. Everyone has their own reasons for leaving and I cannot judge anyone's decision. But what you hear/read is real, the turnover here is crazy.

  1. Your blog is awesome. I am a Black woman from Atlanta and I have an interview this Saturday in Houston. I am so nervous! I really want this great opportunity. I have been teaching science for 8 years and have a master's degree. Do you think I have a chance? What is the curriculum for cycle 2 science? Thanks!

    1. Good luck on your interview! Of course you have a chance! The curriculum is good but a little to heavy for students who do not have a mastery if English. Let me know how your interview goes.

    2. Thanks for your response! I love your blog! It is so detailed I feel like I am living vicariously through you! The interview went well. I teared up at the end when they asked me why I wanted to teach abroad and I discussed how I love to see when students show growth in a language that is foriegn to them. I have students right now from Central and South America, Africa and Bangladesh and I love them all! I had one of the interviewers tear up too! I have not heard any news yet. Still praying. Hope to maybe meet you soon!

Loving the blog! Thanks for sharing all of this great information. I was wondering what do you mean by the "the turnover here is crazy?"

  3. K,
All I mean by that is so many teachers are hired each year but at the same time so many teachers leave and do not fulfill their two year contract.
