All Good Things Must Come To An End

Well readers, it is the end of an era.

Last week I put in my resignation to leave the UAE at the end of this school year.  I plan to go back to Canada and see where the wind takes me.

I want to thank each and every one of you that has commented, read and approached me in person.  To all those that have been inspired, keep your dreams alive.

I will graduate from my Masters program in April, I am looking to take a break from the classroom.  I am excited and nervous to see what next year will bring.

Just like I documented the entry process, I am going to TRY and document the exit process.  Last week, the resignation window opened, you have two weeks to fill in the application to apply to resign.  The application asks for basic information, name, expected departure date.  There are about 9 people that have to approve this resignation, the first one is your principal.  She approved mine, but she also had many questions for me as to why I was leaving, I explained that it was my time to go.  I now wait on the next approver.

  1. Hi. Just offered a job in Abu Dhabi. My deciding factor is the cost of education for my children. I will have a 6th grader and a fourth grader. Can you please advise on the cost or ask someone with children that are paying for private school.
    Thank you

    1. I would highly suggest working at a private school in which your children can attend as students for free. You may make a little less in terms of salary but you will save on tuition.

  3. Best of luck on your journey back home. I've lived here for six months and I'm counting down the weeks until spring break and summer vacation. Although I love living here, I miss my family and life back in the States.

  4. Congrats on your graduation! Im living in the UAE now and your blog helped me convince my parents that I and my kids would be OK. Wow...3 years..another blogger 4 deep left too. I wonder if 3 years is the magic number? With the climate in the USA...I AM SO HAPPY TO BE HERE WITH MY CHILDREN...and I got a promotion after 4 months to management...when it's your time..it's your time😚 Thank you for everything.

    1. I know Tanai from 4 Deep. This is my 4th year and most of my friends have left and I think that it is time to close this chapter in my life. Thank you so much for reading and I wish you all the best.

  5. Love your blog!!! I read it all in one day! I am awaiting the in person interview in Houston, TX soon for an ADEC math cycle 2 position. My husband and son will be moving with me and although I am super excited, I am also scared that the money might not be enough to allow us to save, that my son would not like it (he is 15 - home schooled), and that my husband won't be able to find any work and would get bored... Thank you for blogging and congratulations!
