Game Nights

This is C. She loves to host game nights with her husband J. They usually prepare some food (jerk chicken wings) and the rest of us will bring some drinks and snacks. We love Taboo and at times the games get heated. It is all in good fun and it is a great alternative to going out.

    1. Be honest and just stress how flexible and open you are. You should be fine. Good luck!

    2. Hello Julia & Haneefa! I'm also going through the process with Teach Away. I have my in-person interview on the 24th. I'm being considered for two private schools, one is in Dubai and the other is in Abu Dhabi. At times I want time to speed up and other times I want it to slow down. Lol! I'm excited and nervous about the interview. I feel ready but I hate interviews. Lol! I'm praying for the best. Please keep writing, I enjoy reading your blog. I also begin a blog as well. Check it out when you can.

    5. Hey Jen and Haneefa,
My phone interviews went very well. I have been recommended for the in person interview for both the public and private schools. I see that the public schools pay much more money!!!! Are you ladies public or private school?? The only thing that I don't like is that with public schools you don't know exactly which area you would teach in,, I am going to pray for Abu Dhabi, but surely God knows best... Also, I am supposed to interview in or Houston TX...

    6. Yes the public schools pay much more but the not knowing where I'll live is what scares me. I was up for both public and private and I decided to take the private route. Right now I work at a charter school so my pay is less than if I were to work in a public school. So for me the money isn't that much of a factor. However, if I get the job, I may consider switching over to ADEC once my contract has ended. By then I will be secure with my surroundings and more comfortable living in foreign territory. I'll just have to pray really hard that I wouldn't be placed in the Western region.

    7. Ok, that's a really good point. I am very uncomfortable with the not knowing. If the could guarantee Abu Dhabi or even Dubai, I would be ok with it.... I know that flexibility is key, but during the interview I am going to specifically ask for those areas and if it can't be included I don't think I want to risk it.

    8. For Abu Dhabi public schools, you'll be placed in either Abu Dhabi, Al Ain or Al Gharbia. I'm afraid that I'll be placed in Al Gharbia, if placed there, you'll most definitely need to rent a car. I found a new blog a few days ago, she's actually one of my sorors, she was placed in Al Gharbia. You can read about her journey here: http://highheelsandbeautifulplaces.blogspot.com

Did your recruiter tell you the private schools you're being considered for? I'm from Jersey, so my in-person interview will take place in New York.

    9. I am actually in Al Ain but my school is an hour drive from my house. So even I you get Abu Dhabi you could have a school that is a bit far. As for the Western Region My friends say it amiably as bad as everyone says....
